Next week is National School Lunch Week, and to celebrate the CISD Food Services Department this week hosted special food tasting events at every campus.
To promote the Farm-To-School Program, which aims to bring locally-grown food into school cafeterias, food services employees treated parents attending Parent Teacher Conferences this week to fruits and grains that were prepared using products from local farmers.
School lunch menus during National School Lunch Week (October 13-17) will include fresh produce such as fresh salads along with a variety of vegetables and fruits featuring watermelon, cantaloupe, grapefruit, oranges, apples and whole grain breads.
