SearlsLaure Searls was unanimously selected president of the Canutillo Independent School District Board of Trustees shortly after being sworn in to a fifth term on Tuesday night.

Searls will lead the seven-member Board and serve as a spokeswoman for the Canutillo trustees.

“I am beyond grateful that the members of this Board have placed their trust in me. I hope to not let them down,” she said. “The Canutillo School Board is a tight-knit group. I know we all will act with the best interest of the students and the taxpayers in mind.”

The Board also selected Trustee Leticia Gonzalez as Board Vice President and Trustee Rachel Quintana as Board Secretary.

Trustees Stephanie Frietze and Mary Yglesias are serving their first four-year term on the Board.

They replace Sergio Coronado and Patsy Mendoza, who neither sought re-election.
