The Canutillo Independent School District held a pep rally Thursday to celebrate the district becoming an official Nike school district after the district’s board of trustees approved a contract to use Nike products.
The event featured the Canutillo High School drum line and cheerleading squad. CISD administration unveiled the district’s Nike logo design and displayed Nike t-shirts featuring the logo.
CISD trustees in April unanimously approved a contract with BSN Sports that will make Nike the official provider of all school district athletic uniforms, apparel, and footwear. The contract makes Canutillo ISD only the second school district in the El Paso area to be a Nike school district.
Jose Juarez, field sales pro for BSN Sports, said that his company is already a partner with the Ysleta Independent School District and is looking forward to working with growing school districts.
“It’s awesome,” Juarez said. “We are excited to partner with an up-and-coming school district like Canutillo.”
Athletics Director and Head Football Coach Scott Brooks said both students and coaches are excited to use Nike’s products exclusively.
“A lot of us wear Nike already. This now gives our teams the chance to be recognized even more,” Brooks said. “The kids love the swoosh.”
