Canutillo ISD Teacher Awarded TAHPERD Emerging Professional of the Year Award

Canutillo Elementary School Physical Education teacher Yvonne Carrillo has been awarded the 2017 Texas Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance Emerging Professional of the Year Award.

“We congratulate Ms. Carrillo for receiving this most prestigious award that recognizes her leadership and dedication to her profession,” CISD Coordinated School Health Facilitator Nancy Torres said. “This is a huge honor.”

Carrillo and colleague, Cynthia Coronado, presented on how Canutillo ISD integrates STEM in physical education at the TAHPERD Annual Convention in Fort Worth, TX November 30. The team lectured attendees about new, fun and meaningful STEM activities to include in their Physical Education classes.

These teachers are excited about the work they do and continue to make important contributions to the education, health, and well-being in the lives of their students and their community. The Canutillo ISD Board of Trustees honored Ms. Carrillo at their regular board meeting in February for being a top educator in the State.
