Northwest Early College ranks on U.S. News Best High Schools List

The school, once again, is a 2020 Best High School, based on rankings by the U.S. News & World Report.

U.S. News 2020 Best High Schools numerically ranked nearly 18,000 schools nationwide this year and Northwest placed #5 among El Paso metro area high schools, #94 in Texas, and #707 in national rankings.

“Being a nationally top-ranked school comes with significant responsibility to ensure student success,” Northwest Principal Jesica Arellano said. “Year in and year out, the tremendous staff at this campus take an active role in highly engaging with every student here. The results are evident.”

According to U.S. News, there are six indicators of school quality used to calculate the rankings including college readiness, college curriculum breadth, math and reading proficiency and performance, underserved student performance, and graduation rates.

“We strongly believe that all our students are entitled to a high-quality education,” Canutillo ISD Superintendent Dr. Pedro Galaviz said. “We provide principals and teachers the support they need to help students reach their full potential.”

With today’s launch, U.S. News has published detailed school-specific information on enrollment, graduation rates, student body demographics, location, school type and results of state assessments, as well as Advanced Placement tests and other factors.
