Teamwork

Message from the SuperintendentDear Canutillo Community,

On April 17, 1970, NASA’s Apollo 13 spacecraft successfully returned to earth. However, just days before, an onboard explosion made this positive outcome extremely unlikely. Today, the Apollo 13 story has become a case study in the power of teamwork and improvisation. It has become a lesson on how coming together under dire circumstances can ultimately result in a successful mission.

The astronauts in this instance worked as a team to creatively use what still worked on their crippled spacecraft to gain an earth-bound trajectory. A group of NASA engineers and scientists on the ground endeavored with equal effort and urgency to guide their colleagues home.

The CISD team, both at central office and at campuses, have done the same. We have worked as a team to deploy effective instructional approaches in the face of an unforgiving pandemic. We have innovated, adjusted, modified, and revised our way towards a successful mission, which is to provide quality education while ensuring the safety of all.

Our deepest appreciation goes to trustees, teachers, students, staff and parents for your courage, fortitude, and creativity in the midst of one of the gravest health crises our planet has ever experienced. Your valiant efforts, and the work of educators throughout the world, will go down in the annals of history as a job well done - as a successful mission in spite of the obstacles.
