Remote Instruction Recommended Starting Monday, October 5

Message from the SuperintendentDear Canutillo Community,

We continue to monitor the increasing number of COVID 19 cases in our region. As a result, due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, the health department is advising districts to not increase the number of students receiving in-person instruction. The District will continue to offer in-person learning for whom it is necessary. However, the district is asking parents, if possible, to return or stay with remote instruction starting this coming Monday, October 5. This may remain after Oct. 19 if the upward COVID-19 trend continues.

Please know that the district is doing our part to protect our community and your family. However, the El Paso area is showing a rise in COVID-19 cases all across the city. This increase is not attributed to the Labor Day holiday, but to human behavior. Every member of the community must do their part to keep everyone safe.

The district regularly communicates with health authorities and may modify schedules and protocols in accordance with guidance from these officials. We are committed to providing the best instructional arrangements possible in view of current circumstances. However, safety is our highest priority. The district will always take whatever actions that are deemed necessary to ensure the welfare of students and staff.

Please continue to talk to your children and staff about the importance of following safety guidelines.

Have a great weekend and stay safe! #BeCanutillo
