Dr. James Steinhauser Appointed As New BCE Principal
The Canutillo Independent School District (CISD) recently appointed experienced educator and administrator Dr. James Steinhauser to the key leadership position of Principal for Bill Childress Elementary School.
This marks a return for Dr. Steinhauser to CISD where he previously served as Executive Director of School Improvement from 2006-2008. More recently, Dr. Steinhauser has served in various capacities with the El Paso Independent School District as Director of Policy Support, Assistance Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, Assistant Superintendent of Research and Evaluation and Evaluator in Research, Evaluation, Planning and Accountability. He also served as an Assistant Director of Head Start for Region 19 and was a Teacher in Secondary Mathematics at Ysleta and Anthony ISD. He currently teaches graduate-level courses at the University of Texas at El Paso in the College of Education.
With nearly 23 years of educational experience, Dr. Steinhauser plans to do all he can to support the students, staff, parents and Vinton neighborhoods as the new leader of the Golden Eagles.

Dr. Steinhauser earned a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction from New Mexico State University. His dissertation is entitled, “Mathematics Achievement in Secondary Education: Team Teaching and Interdisciplinary Curriculum.” He is also one of the authors of a book published by Rowman and Littlefield in 2005 entitled, How to Be Involved in Program Evaluation: What Every Administrator Needs to Know.He has also authored numerous reports, presented at numerous regional, state and national conferences and performed consultant work for a variety of public school districts.
