Canutillo Grows

Message from the SuperintendentDear Canutillo community,

Happy Friday! Our teachers and administrators have had their hands full preparing students for the STAAR, end-of-course exams, and gearing up for graduation. There is so much to be thankful for as we wind down the school year.

This week, we celebrated National School Nurse Day and we couldn't be more thankful to this amazing group for being instrumental in keeping our students strong and healthy during this pandemic. School nurses are critical to the health, safety, and well-being of our students in Canutillo.

In other health news, we have once again partnered with The Hospitals of Providence and Providence Children’s Hospital to assist our schools, kids, and families with the vaccination process for those who would like to vaccinate their children for COVID-19.  If you are the parent or legal guardian of kids ages 12 to 15 and wish to pre-register them to receive the COVID-19 vaccine once FDA approval has been received, click here.  The health and safety of our students, teachers, and families remain our top priority.  We appreciate The Hospitals of Providence and their continued support of our schools so that we can help ensure our classrooms are a safe place for our children and teachers.

School community meetings are currently being held for the Facilities Master Plan, a core component of CISD’s strategy to grow strategically together with our expanding neighborhoods by proactively anticipating and meeting the needs of our students to ensure every child receives the highest quality education and support as possible. Visit our website to find a community meeting happening near you.

As Canutillo grows, we are embarking on a transparent, collaborative, and inclusive planning process for the sake of giving our students and staff optimal learning spaces to grow, develop, and create for the betterment of tomorrow. The Just for Kids Committee kicks off this month and we are pleased that our community will be part of this exciting journey.

Congratulations to the Canutillo High School baseball team who defeated Irvin 16-0 to become Bi-district champs! Canutillo advances to the area round to face Canyon Randall in the 5A Area Championship series in Andrews, Texas today and tomorrow. Good luck, Eagles!

And last, the Canutillo Alumni Foundation for Education SOLD OUT its Annual CAFÉ Golf Tournament today! The tournament raises funds to provide scholarships for talented, college-bound Canutillo High School and Northwest Early College High School graduates who are representative of the high-quality education provided by CISD and who display high-caliber academic ability and a mindset of community service and involvement. Thank you to the Paso Del Norte Community Foundation and all of the Tournament sponsors and players for their support!

Have a great weekend!
