Gifted Program Options-Elementary School

The Canutillo Independent School District provides a program that reinforces the strengths, needs, and interests of gifted and talented students. Curriculum and instruction are differentiated by modifying the depth, complexity, and pacing of the general school program. The project-based curriculum is aligned to state standards. Grades 1-6 features a pull-out program.

Gifted Program Options-Secondary

The Canutillo Independent School District provides program options that reinforce the strengths, needs, and interests of gifted and talented students. Curriculum and instruction are differentiated by modifying the depth, complexity, and pacing of the general school program. From 7th - 12th grade, CISD offers advanced placement classes.


Advanced Placement

Advanced Placement courses provide opportunities for students to earn college credit while learning about a subject in greater depth. Students develop study and analytical skills that are important to success in college. Pre-Advanced Placement courses are offered to prepare them for the rigorous Advanced Placement courses.


Distinguished Achievement Program

GT students are encouraged to participate in the Distinguished Achievement Program, the highest level of graduation in the state. Students who wish to complete the Distinguished Achievement Program and have the accomplishment recognized on the Academic Achievement Record (transcript) must complete all required courses and four advanced measures.
