Canutillo Independent School District

(February 18)-- Dr. Damon Murphy began his first day on the job as Superintendent for the Canutillo Independent School District by visiting all nine campuses within the district.
Dr. Murphy cruised comfortably among classrooms taking the opportunity to chat up with teachers and students. At every campus, Dr. Murphy sat down with principals to get a better understanding of the individual needs at each school.
“I’m thrilled to have opportunity to work in the Canutillo ISD community. It’s a deep honor, and I’m humbled by the trust that has been placed in me,” said Dr. Murphy. “I pledge to do my best in protecting the trust that has been given to me,” he added.
Dr. Murphy, who most recently worked with the El Paso Independent School District as the Associate Superintendent for Priority and Secondary Schools, will now oversee a $46 million dollar budget and lead the education of nearly 6,000 students in the growing Canutillo ISD, situated in Northwest El Paso County.
