This is the image for the news article titled Message from Board President Armando Rodriguez - May 10As I reflect on the recent Canutillo Bond 2024 election, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for our incredible community. Your unwavering support and dedication to the future of Canutillo ISD have propelled us forward in our mission to provide the best possible education for our students. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I extend my sincerest thanks to each and every member of the Canutillo ISD family who played a part in this momentous achievement.

The success of the Canutillo Bond 2024 was not simply a victory for our district, it was a triumph for every member of our community who believes in the power of education to transform lives. I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to those who went above and beyond to spread the word about the bond, whether it was through attending community meetings, sharing information online, or engaging in conversations with neighbors and friends. Your enthusiasm and dedication to our district played a pivotal role in securing this victory, and we are deeply grateful for your commitment.

It is important to acknowledge that the bond victory was a narrow one, with both propositions passing by just 1 percentage point. This serves as a reminder that there are members of our community who may still have reservations about the future of our District. As stewards of taxpayer dollars, it is our responsibility to work diligently to earn the trust of every member of our community. Transparency is key, and our first step toward this end will be the official launch of the Canutillo Bond Oversight Committee (CBAC) this week.

The CBAC will be comprised of community members who are passionate about ensuring the responsible and effective implementation of the bond. This committee will review contracts, spending, and other procedures related to the bond, and provide recommendations to the Board of Trustees. If you are interested in serving on the CBAC, I encourage you to reach out to us at [email protected]. Your participation is invaluable as we strive to uphold the highest standards of accountability and transparency.

In addition to establishing the CBAC, we are committed to addressing the misinformation that was spread throughout our community during the bond campaign. False information was disseminated through various channels, from doorsteps to windshields to signs, and it is imperative that we set the record straight. Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing factual information to correct any misconceptions and ensure that our community is well-informed about the bond and its implications.

As we move forward, let us remain steadfast in our commitment to the students of Canutillo ISD. Our collective efforts have brought us this far, and together, we will continue to build a brighter future for generations to come. Thank you for your unwavering support, your dedication, and your belief in the potential of our district. Let us work together to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed and thrive.

On a personal note, I want to take this opportunity to pay homage to a man who held Canutillo ISD near and dear to his heart. My tio, Manny Hidalgo, passed away in a house fire on Sunday May 5. He was a patriarch of our family and a lifelong Canutillo resident who graduated from CHS in 1971. Thank you, tio, for instilling in me the love of our community and a drive to work to improve our schools.
