This is the image for the news article titled Message from Board President Patsy Mendoza - April 6Dear Canutillo Familia,

The Board of Trustees last week spent some time on the phone making calls to different stakeholders of the community and asking them to be part of an important process in Canutillo. The District will begin drafting a new strategic plan we are calling Canutillo 2028: Planning for the Future. The plan will set the tone and goals for the work to be done in Canutillo ISD over the next five years.

To get a better understanding of what is important to everyone in the community, the Board and the Administration will work with a committee of stakeholders who will help us determine priorities. This group of parents, educators, taxpayers, civic leaders, religious leaders, students and business owners will give us a better insight into what our community wants to see happening in our schools.

I’m excited to see this amazing group of civic-minded individuals come together to help us. On behalf of the Board, I thank you in advance for stepping up to the plate. Your work will be invaluable in determining the future of our great school district.

The Canutillo 2028 Plan will be a lengthy process to complete, and we vow to keep the community informed every step of the way. The first of two scheduled meetings with the community committee is this Thursday.

In other news, several board members attended the National School Boards Association conference this weekend, where we were able to get some much-appreciated training on topics that ranged from governance and funding to advocacy and pedagogy. I want to thank the trustees who attended and gave up their time to better serve the children of Canutillo.

¡Un abrazo fuerte!

Patsy Mendoza
