Pregnancy Related Services

  Designed to offer guidance and assistance for students in the dual role of student and parent.

Role: To provide assistance to students encountering pregnancy and/or parenting related issues and reduce barriers to academic success. Supports include individual and peer support, child care and transportation referrals, parenting strategies to ensure early learning for children, and social service assistance.

Responsibility: To provide ongoing case management for students in the dual role of parent and student. They work inside and outside the school district to assist students in obtaining resources needed to remain in school and transition to post-secondary education.

Program Opportunities

Program participation will assist students with:

Students are offered peer, group or individual counseling through support groups, case management, and referrals to outside agencies. 

Job Readiness and Career Counseling
Students are provided career counseling and job readiness training.
Child Care Services
All students are assisted in applying for financial assistance for child care services with Workforce Solution Borderplex Child Care Services (CCS). Students may also be eligible to receive free child care services from the Early Head Start program offered through Region XIX (ESC).
Canutillo ISD offers a school bus transportation service to and from the campus or child-care facility.
Instruction in Parenting Knowledge and Skills
Students attend classes offered through the regular school setting and receive additional information through guest speakers and lessons. Various topics pertaining to parenting skills, social responsibility, child development, home and family living, etc. are offered.
Assistance in Obtaining Services from Government Agencies or Community Service Organizations
Students are provided assistance in obtaining medical and financial assistance and other social support service offered through government, private and public agencies.
Compensatory Education Home Instruction (CEHI)
A certified teacher will provide instruction to students eligible to remain confined at home or hospital settings for school attendance credit. Students must obtain valid medical documentation to become eligible for this service.
