COVID-19 Dashboard

Message from the SuperintendentDear Canutillo Community,

The time has come for us to face the reality of the current situation in the world today. Our mission, as educators, is to prepare our students for their careers and success in life. A worldwide pandemic is just one of the many trials challenging our resolve to this mission.

Our employees have continued their efforts to courageously serve our district and community. For instance, at the beginning of the health crisis, before the district procured PPE gear, before social distancing, before mandatory masks and hand sanitizing stations, our custodians, cafeteria workers, and maintenance dutifully reported to their campuses. I’d like to thank every single employee, student, and parent for continuing to serve in the role we chose, and accept responsibility to fulfill our mission.

New COVID -19 Dashboard Tracks Cases in the District

As you may have heard, we received news that individuals in our District have tested positive for COVID-19. We continue to work closely with the local health department on proactive efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community. It is important to note that these cases are not related to each other and the individuals have not contacted the virus at school.

Following guidance from health authorities, any individuals determined to be in close contact with the infected individual have been contacted directly and will remain off-campus for up to 14 days as a precaution. As part of the district’s proactive mitigation efforts, the areas of the campus where the individuals were have been disinfected and regular cleaning procedures will continue in the rest of the school/facility.

For the benefit of keeping everyone informed about cases in the district, we have created an online dashboard that will be updated regularly. You can find it at http://www.canutillo-isd.org/2020-2021_school_year/covid19_statistics

Thank you all for your efforts. We are not done with this pandemic. COVID-19 and other diseases will always be a part of our everyday lives. Every student, parent and staff member must continue to do their part. Please continue to talk to your children and staff about the importance of following safety guidelines:

  • The 3W’s: wash your hands, wear your mask, watch your distance.
  • Use the self-screening tool every day if you are attending school or work in-person.
  • Stay home if you feel sick.
  • If you have had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or you have a sick family member at home, call your school to talk about the situation.

Athletic Events

On another note, we have some athletic news. All home Canutillo games and athletic events will allow two family members per participant to attend games. A mask must be worn at all times upon entering CISD facilities, and social distancing guidelines must be followed. Each player will be given a ticket for each home event. All fans must follow CISD guidelines for health screenings before entering the stadium. Anyone not complying with rules will be asked to leave the facility. No fans or parents will be permitted to enter courts, fields after games. Fans must exit the facility when each contest ends. We will clear stands at the end of each game so that the parents of the following game may enter the facility.

Commitment Form

Please remember that parents must complete the next commitment form to inform us of your decision to allow your student to attend school in-person or continue with remote learning for the second grading period starting on October 19, 2020. Please review the descriptions for the options offered. Submit your form by October 2. Canutillo High School and Northwest Early College High School will be performing their own commitment process. Please contact the campus to submit your answer. The forms can be found on our website at http://www.canutillo-isd.org/2020-2021_school_year/commitment_forms.

Have a great weekend and stay safe! #BeCanutillo
