COVID19 Positive Cases on CISD Community

On CISD schools, there were a total of 103 positive laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases on staff or students reported during the week of November 15 to November 21, 2021 (Table 1).

*Cases included in this report are those that have been confirmed and provided a copy of a COVID-19 positive laboratory report AND a report has been submitted to the El Paso Department of Public Health. Cases that are currently under investigation or have not provided a copy of a positive test result are not included but isolation/quarantine protocols have been initiated by our CISD team.

As of November 21, out of the 446 positive COVID-19 cases (N=446) reported since July 19 among our CISD staff and student population (Figure 1), a total of 389 cases have been identified among students (87.2%) and 57 among CISD employees (12.8%) (Figure 2). A total of 365 (81.8%) cases have been among those who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19.

City of El Paso Epidemiological Update: Current Cases & Stage Level for Week November 15 – November 21, 2021

According to the statistical report of the City of El Paso, as of November 22, 2021, there are currently a total of 173 active cases reported in the areas of Canutillo and Vinton. Our community remains located under Stage 2 on the COVID-19 Community Scorecard with a (7-day average) positivity rate of 14.77% (City of El Paso, 2021). Further information at

COVID-19 Immunization events at CISD

Canutillo ISD has been hosting a series of vaccination clinics at different schools, where the University Medical Center Mobile Unit provides COVID-19 and Flu vaccines to students, staff and family members. A total of 829 vaccines have been successfully applied in all the CISD immunization events. Detailed information on immunizations can be seen in Table 2 below.

Canutillo ISD faculty, staff, parents and guardians:

If you test positive for COVID-19 during the Thanksgiving holiday break, we ask that you please complete and submit the electronic form provided below. At the end of the electronic form, you will also be asked to notify the City of El Paso Department of Public Health using the Self-Reporting Form that can be found at under the tab labeled testing. You will need to upload a copy of the positive lab report or doctor's note when reporting to the health department.

Canutillo ISD staff: Please make note that moving forward, rapid COVID-19 testing will only be conducted at the Lone Star building at 7000 5th St., Mon. - Fri. from 3 - 5 p.m. Rapid testing will not be available during District closures.

Parents/guardians: COVID-19 rapid testing will continue at your child’s campus at designated times. Please check with your child’s campus for available times. Student rapid testing will not be available during District closures.
