Welcome 2022

Message from the SuperintendentDear Canutillo community,

Happy New Year! We are excited to welcome students, parents, teachers, and staff back to school for a new year of growing and learning. The district realizes that we are all living in trying times, especially in view of the ongoing pandemic. It is our hope that families stayed safe and healthy during the break and that you had a peaceful holiday.

COVID-19 Updates
The new year is off to a rough start with the spike of COVID-19 cases and the emergence of omicron in our city. We are remaining vigilant and cautious while highly encouraging our entire Canutillo community to utilize all preventative measures recommended by local, state, and national health authorities, including receiving the vaccine. Parents/guardians, students, teachers and staff, please note that if you are awaiting results of a COVID-19 test, do not attend school or work unless you receive a confirmed negative result.

Our district will be providing additional vaccination clinics at our campuses open to the community to make it easy and convenient to receive your flu or COVID-19 vaccine or booster. Check out our upcoming clinics here: http://www.canutillo-isd.org/COVID19/vaccination_clinics.

COVID-19 rapid testing (antigen test) will continue to be offered at all district facilities and campuses. Students may access a rapid test at their school. Contact your campus to find out the rapid testing schedule. Employees will continue to be tested at the Lone Star Building (Student Support Services).

Board Appreciation Month
One group of distinguished individuals that has strived to enact policies and provide resources to keep our children safe in school, particularly in light of the health crisis, is our CISD Board of Trustees. We pause to celebrate our dedicated board members in January, which has been designated Board Appreciation Month.

The theme of this year’s celebration of trustees is appropriately called Rising Above. Our board has not allowed itself to be daunted by the challenges of the health crisis, the nation’s political divisiveness, or facilities funding issues. They constantly rise above these obstacles to a more virtuous plane to make good decisions and find workable solutions in the best interest of the students.

Remember to aim high this new year, stay healthy, stay safe, stay informed and help keep our campus community safe.
