Celebrating Staff

Message from the SuperintendentDear Canutillo community,

Employees represent the heart and soul of any organization. Faculty, staff and leaders can make or break a district. And our people have worked to make CISD a premier school system. They are the essential elements of our success.

We pause this month to recognize the many achievements of women in history. Individuals like Rosa Parks, Marie Curie and so many others have changed the course of history for the better.

A huge thank you to all our hard-working maintenance workers in CISD. We are grateful for everything you do so our students and educators can have the best possible environment to learn and succeed! Take time to stop and honor our social workers who dedicate their time and talents to help our families connect to available resources and services they may need and are always looking out for the well-being of our students.

We have many student awards, accomplishments and celebrations happening across the district. I invite you to visit our website to read about our top District Science Fair winners, CHS Eagle Thespians who are advancing to the bi-district competition for their performance in the one-act play, "Over the River and Through the Woods,” and much more.

Spring Intersession will be from March 7-18
Intersession begins next week for most of our campuses. Students will be out from March 7 thru March 18 except for Northwest Early College High School where students will be out for spring break March 14 thru March 18.
Don’t forget campus student interventions are scheduled March 7-11. This is a time that has been set aside for individualized instruction to help our kids move forward. Check with your respective campus for detailed information.

ThoughtExchange

Levers
As a premier district, Canutillo ISD strives for continual growth and improvement.  The district is currently working on its 5-year strategic plan that consists of 5 levers focused on optimal district operations, student growth, staff & student support, family engagement and a strong, positive culture amongst stakeholders.

I invite you to share your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions on how best to achieve maximum success in Lever 1: optimal district operations. Some examples of District operations include:
  • Positive and Engaging Learning Environment
  • Safety and Security
  • Child Nutrition
  • Financial integrity and transparency
  • Facilities
We will be using your thoughts to inform our strategic planning. We are using ThoughtExchange so everyone has a chance to share their perspectives and understand what’s most important to the group.

Please share your thoughts and then rate at least 25-30 of the thoughts that others have shared. Your participation is confidential, so no one will know who shared or rated which thoughts. Come back often until March 11 at noon to rate new ideas.

I wish you all a happy and safe break!

Sincerely,
Pedro Galaviz
Superintendent of Schools
