This is the image for the news article titled Message from Board President Armando Rodriguez - Feb. 23Dear Canutillo Community,

From academic achievements to community outreach, Canutillo ISD continues to shine brightly, embodying the spirit of excellence and dedication.

First, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Alderete Middle School robotics team for their outstanding performance at the recent regional meet held at UTEP. Their hard work and perseverance paid off as they secured a spot to compete at the State Regionals Robotic Competition—an impressive feat that speaks volumes about their talent and commitment to innovation.

Equally deserving of applause is the Canutillo High School boys basketball team, whose thrilling victory in the Class 5A bi-district championship against the formidable Hanks Knights left spectators on the edge of their seats. Their triumph not only demonstrates their skill on the court but also their ability to work as a cohesive unit under pressure. As they advance to the area round of the Texas playoffs, they carry with them the pride and support of the entire Canutillo community.

In the realm of arts and culture, the Garcia Elementary School ACE Program and Folklorico Dancers captivated audiences with their mesmerizing performances during a ballet, cheer, and dance recital at CHS. The dedication and talent exhibited by these young performers are a testament to the importance of fostering creativity and expression within our schools. Their electrifying showcase undoubtedly left an indelible impression on all who were fortunate enough to witness it.

Furthermore, I commend the participants of the Damian Mother-Daughter/Father-Son Program for their successful pet supplies drive, which benefited local animal shelters in our community. Their initiative not only exemplifies the values of compassion and altruism but also reinforces the importance of giving back to those in need. Through their collective efforts, they have made a meaningful and positive impact on the lives of both animals and humans alike.

I am also delighted to share the news of Trustee Blanca Trout's receipt of a $1,000 scholarship from the TASB Risk Fund. Her decision to generously donate this scholarship to the District for the purpose of enhancing mental health support for students and families exemplifies the spirit of philanthropy and compassion that defines our community. Her contribution will undoubtedly help bolster our efforts to provide comprehensive care and resources to those in need.

In closing, I want to express my sincere gratitude to all who have contributed to the success and vitality of Canutillo ISD. Whether through academic achievement, athletic prowess, artistic expression, community service, or acts of kindness, each individual plays a vital role in shaping the fabric of our district. Together, we celebrate not only the triumphs of this past week but also the enduring spirit of excellence that defines us as #VivaCanutillo.

Sincerely,
Armando Rodriguez
President
