Advanced Academics & Gifted and Talented

Mission Statement
The Canutillo Independent School District's Advanced Academics programs will promote opportunities which fosters creative thinking, integrity, self-motivation and challenges its students to attain a level achievement that leads to post-secondary success.

Vision Statement
The Canutillo Independent School District’s Advanced Academics programs will encourage students to build on their talents, use their creativity, and become a leader among their peers.  Through this process we want all students in advanced academic courses to leave our district ready to take on the challenges of college and the world.

Students in Canutillo have the opportunity to take both enrichment and advanced courses.  In elementary school students are tested for gifted potential and if appropriate they participate in a pull-out enrichment program based on the Texas Performance Standards Project.  In grades 6-12, any student can take an advanced class in any of the four core subjects:  math, reading language arts, social studies, and/or science.

Each of our high schools help prepare our students for college.  Students have the option to take college level courses (dual credit or AP).  Also, they receive guidance on FAFSA, Apply Texas, and college entrance exams.
