Police Department

The jurisdiction of the Canutillo ISD PD includes:

• All territory within the boundaries of the Canutillo Independent School District.
• All real or personal property located outside those boundaries that is owned, leased, rented, or otherwise under the control of the district.
• Additionally, as fully commissioned Texas Peace Officers, Canutillo ISD PD officers have statewide authority to act under Texas law.  Notably, they may arrest without a warrant for offenses committed in their presence anywhere in Texas and enforce all laws within any county in which the district holds property, except for certain moving traffic violations, unless those occur within their county of jurisdiction.

Peace officers employed by Canutillo ISD PD have the same authority, powers, privileges and immunities as bestowed on all Texas peace officers while on or off duty.

The mission of the Canutillo ISD Police Department is to effectively and efficiently provide for the protection of lives and property, preserve public peace, and, with the highest level of professionalism and ethical standards, provide the central and campus administration specialized services, strengthening their ability to prepare students for the changes and challenges of the future.

We will always be truthful and trustworthy.  We are committed to equal application of the law to offenders and members of the public as well as the equal application of rules and regulations to all members of the district.  We are committed to the highest level of moral principles and ethics.

Every Canutillo ISD peace officer is licensed and certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. Officers can earn four levels of certification:

• Basic
• Intermediate
•  Advanced
• Master

More than half of our team has achieved the highest level: Master Peace Officer.
