STEPS TO FOLLOW AFTER RECEIVING A COVID-19 POSITIVE RESULT DURING THE CISD 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR

If you are an employee or staff for the Canutillo ISD AND you test positive for COVID-19, please follow these easy steps to report your case and receive clearance to return to work on time:

STEP 1: Notify your immediate supervisor and complete the following two forms:

  • Because COVID-19 is a communicable disease, it must be reported to the health department. This form will allow us to obtain all the necessary information to report your case to the El Paso Department of Public Health.
  • Once you complete the form, you will receive further information by email from Dr. Maria Fuentes (CISD Public Health Emergency Manager) on the steps you need to follow to receive clearance to return to work.

STEP 2: Complete full isolation period of 5 days.

  • CISD will allow positive employees to end their period of isolation after 5 full days when:
    • If symptomatic, at least 5 days have passed since the first day of symptom onset, AND have been fever free for a period of 24 hours (without the use of fever reducer medications).
    • If you showed no symptoms, you must isolate at least 5 days after the day you tested positive for COVID-19.

*Note: If you continue to have active symptoms, or your symptoms have worsened after the first five days of isolation, you must complete a total of 10 days of isolation to reduce the risk of transmission of the virus to others students and employees/staff members. Notify immediately your supervisor and Dr. Maria Fuentes at [email protected] and do not complete the clearance electronic form until your 10th day of isolation until you receive further instructions.

STEP 3: On your last day of isolation complete the electronic “COVID-19 Clearance Request to Return to Work Form” found on the CISD website.

  • Complete the electronic form on your last day of isolation (5th or 10th depending your case) and no later than 4:00 pm to receive full clearance on time*.
    Note: If a request is submitted after 4:00 pm, you are subject to receive clearance until the next working day.
  • Once a request is submitted, it will be reviewed by Dr. Maria Fuentes (PHEM) who will notify Ms. Julie Uranga (Human Resources) you are cleared to return to work on the following day.
  • A final clearance email will come from Ms. Julie Uranga notifying you with the date you are cleared to return to work.
  • If you completed a 5-day isolation period, we strongly encourage you to continue wearing a face mask for the next 5 days to reduce the risk of virus dissemination to others.
  • If you receive different instructions from your medical care provider, please submit a copy of the document on the electronic form.

COVID-19 Vaccine Questionnaire for all district personnel


The Human Resources Division continues monitoring the COVID-19 Vaccine progression for district employees and is requiring that all employees submit a COVID-19 Vaccine Questionnaire through the link below; if you do not wish to disclose information, you may elect the choice, "Do not wish to disclose" *however, all must complete a questionnaire.

If you have submitted your record -- thank you, no action is needed; disregard this message.

If you are submitting this questionnaire for the first time or need to update your previous response, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Sign out of all Gmail Accounts
  2. Sign into your Canutillo ISD email; All Employees will be required to sign into their district email account in order to submit any information.
  3. Update your record
