1st Week of In-Person Instruction

Message from the SuperintendentDear Canutillo Community,

Welcome back to campus. We have missed our students. I spent much of my week visiting each campus, to see many of their faces for the first time since this all began in March. Teachers and students were filled with a mix of excitement and cautiousness. It’s the start of in-person instruction, and we are thankful to be back together.

We are all adapting and preparing for our new routine this year. Although change will likely remain a constant, one area that will not change is providing a safe environment for our staff and students.

Our buildings are occupied with administration, teaching, food service, custodial, and other support staff. All of the safety protocols that were designed for our opening for in-person instruction are in place. Cleaning and disinfecting are essential in maintaining a safe environment for students and staff. In addition to social distancing protocols, hand sanitizing stations, staggered shifts, multiple entry/exit points and various other safeguards.

As we continue our path of opening schools to in-person learning, please continue to talk to your children and staff about the importance of following safety guidelines:

  • The 3W’s: wash your hands, wear your mask, watch your distance.

  • Use the self-screening tool every day if you are attending school or work in-person.

    • Student Screening Tool

    • Staff Screening Tool

    • Stay home if you feel sick.

    • If you have had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or you have a sick family member at home, call your school to talk about the situation. -

The pandemic’s future will be decided by human action. Let’s continue to do our part and keep each other safe.

Dr. Pedro Galaviz,
Superintendent of Schools
