Eagle Pride Soars to Infinity & Beyond

Message from the Superintendent Dear Canutillo Community,

Aside from the abundance of pumpkin spice in the air, we know fall is right around the corner when Homecoming season begins. We are excited to kickoff another year of fun and festivities to celebrate Canutillo High School Homecoming happening the week of September 19 - 23.

We don’t need an excuse to show our Canutillo pride, but this year let’s take it to infinity and beyond! I hope the whole community can come out to join us at our traditional Homecoming Parade scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21. The annual Homecoming Bonfire will follow the parade.

Let’s also leave the Parkland Matadors seeing orange when we come out to support and cheer for the Eagles at the football game at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23.

Speaking of something to cheer about, our new Montessori Pre-K 3 program at Garcia Elementary is already a huge success. We received an exuberant response from both parents in our community and throughout the region. This goes to show the need for this type of innovative public programming to serve the little learners in our region.

We are eager to welcome our youngest students and introduce them to the Best Small District in Texas. Our first cohort will begin Monday, September 19. We look forward to the opportunity to expand our program and accommodate the parents and children from across the District and region who have expressed interest in making Canutillo ISD their home.

Last but not least, as we welcome new beginnings in our District, we also celebrate our past. Next week, Jose H. Damian Elementary will be celebrating their 30th anniversary. The doors to JDE opened in 1992 and has since honorably served our community and the children within. The campus was named in honor of an exemplary forefather of Canutillo. To this day, members of Mr. Damian's family call JDE their home.

The campus will be celebrating the legacy of the past three decades and the positive impact the campus has had on the Canutillo community during a ceremony on Friday, September 23. The Damian family will be joining the celebration.

Here’s  to JDE continuing to serve the children of Canutillo for the next 30 years!
