Exceptional Eagles

Superintendent Galaviz Dear Canutillo Community,

I am thrilled to share the outstanding accomplishments of three remarkable groups of students from Canutillo High School, highlighting their incredible dedication and achievements at our recent Board of Trustees regular board meeting. Despite the challenges faced by CHS this year, these recognitions reaffirm our unwavering commitment to putting our students at the forefront of all that we do.

Firstly, I commend Cross Country Team Member Nevaeh Escobedo, a resilient sophomore who qualified for the Regional Cross Country Meet in Lubbock. Nevaeh's journey is one of perseverance and determination, as she overcame an early-season injury and demonstrated unwavering resilience, culminating in an exceptional performance this season. Her tenacity is a testament to her bright future and an inspiration to us all.

Secondly, I am immensely proud of CHS students Michelle DeMoss, David Gonzalez, Tobias Palmer, and Angel Rodriguez for their selection to serve on the Texas 16th Congressional District’s Youth Advisory Council. These remarkable students have been chosen to help shape the agenda for Congresswoman Veronica Escobar, providing a crucial voice for the youth in our community. It is a testament to their excellence that CHS secured four out of the 20 positions on this council, the highest representation from any high school in El Paso.

Last but certainly not least, I am delighted to recognize CHS senior April Ruiz for her remarkable achievement in earning a Top 10 placement in the 2023 Biomedical Engineering Society's High School Science Poster Competition in Seattle. Her research and presentation showcased an extraordinary level of expertise that left us all in awe. April's dedication and proficiency reflect the caliber of talent and commitment within our student body at Canutillo High School.

These achievements stand as shining examples of the talent, resilience, and commitment to excellence that our students embody. It is a testament to the high standards and exceptional abilities nurtured within the walls of CHS.

I want to emphasize that these recognitions are just a glimpse of the great things happening at our high school. I am confident that more exceptional news and accomplishments are yet to come as our students continue to shine brightly and exceed expectations.

Great things are happening at Canutillo High School, and I couldn't be prouder of the incredible achievements of our students. Together, let's continue to support and celebrate the remarkable successes of our young leaders.
