Graduation Season

Message from the SuperintendentDear Canutillo community,

It’s graduation season and some of our graduates will be walking the stage for their diplomas next week!

Northwest Early College High School will hold its commencement ceremony Thursday, May 27, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. at the UTEP Sun Bowl. Canutillo High School’s ceremony will take place Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. also at the Sun Bowl. Further details will be provided by your campus.

And, before you know it, the next school year will be upon us. Online registration is now open for the 2021-2022 school year. Visit our website to review registration requirements and procedures: https://bit.ly/2Rkla0a.

Canutillo ISD will be revising our masking guidance consistent with both the governor’s executive order and recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  Starting June 5, masks will be optional but strongly encouraged inside school district buildings and outdoors. For individuals who are not fully vaccinated or have weakened immune systems, masking and social distancing are recommended. As we have done since the beginning of the pandemic, we will continue to monitor conditions and act accordingly in line with the guidance of the CDC and state officials.

Our friends at the Paso del Norte Community Foundation want us to share with you about the EP Rent Help program. The City of El Paso and the County of El Paso have allocated $13.08 million in funding from the Federal Cares Act to provide rental assistance to landlords of residential rental properties for tenants that are experiencing economic hardship as a result of COVID-19. Tenants may apply starting April 22. The rental assistance program will remain open until all rental assistance funding has been pledged. To avoid eviction, please do not delay in submitting your application. To apply, visit EPrenthelp.org.

Have a great weekend!
