Spirit of Kindness

Message from the SuperintendentDear Canutillo community,

This week we have seen across our campuses what a difference a little kindness can make as our students, faculty and staff celebrated Random Acts of Kindness Week. It is our goal as educators to not only produce smart competitive human beings to send out into the world but also help nurture and develop humble, noble and kind individuals too. As we close this week of activities, dress-up days and events that promote kindness, let’s always remember to exhibit a spirit of kindness, be gracious to one another and model the kind of person we want our kids to become.

Speaking of sending smart competitive individuals into the world, graduation is not too far away and we are calling on seniors at Northwest Early College High School and Canutillo High School to apply for a  Canutillo Alumni Foundation for Education (CAFÉ) scholarship. Click here to apply and learn more about eligibility requirements and don’t forget to submit your application before April 29, 2022 at 4:00 p.m.

Congratulations to the Reyes Elementary School Chamber Choir for making our District proud at their recent performance at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) annual convention in San Antonio, TX. They are shining examples that our kids are the cream of the crop not only locally but beyond. Great job! Keep singing from the heart.

Responsible use of Social Media
The health, safety, and security of our students, staff, and community are number one.

As you have been informed, alleged threats were made against some of our schools on various social media platforms. These threats were taken seriously and thoroughly investigated by our Safety and Security Department, various law enforcement officials, and administration. It was determined that these alleged threats were not credible and the responsible individual was identified and will face consequences for these serious violations committed.

Students, or anyone, found to be involved in the development of fraudulent Instagram accounts or posing threats will be disciplined accordingly by the appropriate authority.

The health, safety, and security of our students, staff, and community are a top priority.  We encourage our educators, parents, and/or guardians to continue to speak to their children about the risks of social media, monitor their online activity, and if they SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING.

Feb. 21 No Classes for Students
There will be no classes for students district-wide on Monday, Feb. 21 due to teachers and staff participating in professional learning communities.

There will be no classes for Northwest Early College High School students, faculty and staff due to holiday closure. NWECHS students must still attend their EPCC classes. Transportation to EPCC campus will not be available. Please plan accordingly.
