Spring Events

Message from the Superintendent

Dear Canutillo community,

This week, we paused for a moment to remember and recognize a man who stood for workers' rights, civil rights, environmental justice, and non-violence. César Chávez was a Latino farm labor leader and community organizer whose legacy stands strong to this day and we continue his work by honoring and supporting the health, rights, and dignity of all.

Also this week, our District came together to develop a framework that will serve the needs of our community as we move into a new era of learning. Math Innovation Zones is a blended-learning math program, informed in data, that enables teachers to deliver personalized learning. Thanks to our principals, teachers, students, coaches, support staff, and our board member for being present in this process.

Spring events are in full swing! While the graduation dates have been set, we are still working on the details to provide a safe and wonderful experience for our graduates and their families. We will inform you when the information becomes available. Canutillo High School’s ceremony will take place Wednesday, June 9, 2021. Northwest Early College is scheduled for Thursday, May 27, 2021.

April is busy with celebrations!

  • National Assistant Principals Week is April 5–9, 2021! Join us next week in honoring the enormous contributions of assistant principals to student success.
  • April is School Library Month when we celebrate the essential role that strong school libraries and librarians play in transforming learning.
  • It is also National Autism Month to promote autism awareness, autism acceptance and to draw attention to the tens of thousands facing an autism diagnosis each year.
  • And lastly, April is designated as the Month of the Military Child, underscoring the important role military children play in the armed forces community.

This week is a time when many in our community will celebrate the life given in sacrifice for our faith. The District will be closed Friday, April 2. Happy Easter! Enjoy the time with your family.
