Thank you Administrative Professionals

Message from the SuperintendentDear Canutillo community,

We were happy to celebrate Administrative Professionals Day this week with every administrative support team member who makes Canutillo ISD run smoothly and efficiently. We couldn't do it without their hard work and commitment to our kids!

Speaking of our kids, here are some who are doing amazing things. For the first time, nine Reyes Elementary School students have been selected to the 2021 Texas Choral Directors Association (TCDA) Elementary Honor Choir. The students will perform at the Elementary Honor Choir Virtual Concert on July 24, 2021, to be presented at TCDA’s 66th annual summer convention. This wonderful group of students was selected from students around the state through an arduous audition process.

Also, congratulations to our Finance Department on receiving the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International’s Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting Award (COE) for the FY2020 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fifth consecutive year. Our participation in the COE program is a testament to our district’s commitment to transparency and high-quality financial reporting.

Attention, Canutillo High School and Northwest Early College High School Seniors! The Canutillo Alumni Foundation for Education (CAFÉ) college scholarship application is out. Hurry and apply by April 30! CAFÉ is holding its annual golf tournament Friday, May 14, to raise funds for the scholarship.

Finally, for the health and safety of our students, employees, and their families, we are reminding everyone to continue wearing masks while on school property and follow all health and safety protocols. We are also encouraging everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated for COVID-19. The CDC states that the vaccines are highly effective at protecting against symptomatic and severe COVID-19.

Have a great weekend!

Dr. Pedro Galaviz
Superintendent of Schools
