Your Voice, Your Vote (1)

Message from the Superintendent Dear Canutillo Community,

After several weeks of campaigning and hard work, Election Day is upon us. Voters throughout the country will head to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 8, to pick governors, senators, congress members, city council members, county commissioners and school trustees. Here in Canutillo ISD, of course, voters will decide on two important issues: the makeup of the Canutillo school board and the Every Child, Every School 2022 Canutillo Bond.

I wish all candidates good luck as they set out to gain favor with the people of our community in order to carry on one of the most sacred elected jobs in the country, that of running our public education system. Being a school board member is no easy task. Trustees take on hours of extra duty to help manage the policy and budget development for the entire District, all without compensation. There’s many sacrifices that come with serving on school boards, and for that, we should be grateful to our candidates and our elected trustees.

Of course, we will be keeping a close eye on the result of the bond election. The District spent months informing the public about the projects and the impact the bond would have on homeowners and taxpayers. We have armed the public with the facts they need to make the best decision for their families and households.

We had a healthy trickle of voters in central office during early voting and we know more people are expected to come out to vote on Election Day this Tuesday. We will be out there on that day to answer any last-minute questions the public may have about the bond. Look out for our volunteers at the five precincts within the CISD boundaries.

If you’re voting on Election Day, you may do so at any of these five locations in Canutillo:

  • El Paso County Northwest Annex, 435 E. Vinton Rd
  • Canutillo Middle School, 7311 Bosque Rd
  • Canutillo Elementary School, 651 Canutillo Ave
  • Reyes Elementary School, 7440 Northern Pass Dr.
  • Fire Station #2, 111 E. Borderland Rd.

On another note, I want to congratulate Northwest Early College High School on their designation as the best high school in El Paso by the Niche platform. There’s truly amazing things happening on that campus and we are so proud of the work the students are putting in to bring positive attention to our District and community. Way to go Griffins!

Have a great weekend, Canutillo. Go out and vote!
