This will mark the first time in CISD history that the Eagles will be competing at one of the premier marching band championship events in the nation.

The New Mexico Regional is one of 28 BOA marching band championships across the country this year that provide positively life-changing experiences for students, teachers, and fans.

The CHS Marching Band will be competing against over a dozen high school marching bands from across Texas and New Mexico in the preliminary competition. The group will be evaluated by a panel of nationally recognized music educators and marching band experts with the top scoring bands advancing to the evening finals competition.

“This is a great opportunity for our students,” said Canutillo High School Band Director Dr. Regino Ramos. “Typically, the BOA competitions are held in sites that are 10 to 16 hours away; this makes it tough for us to get there. The opportunity to compete here in “our backyard” was something we could not pass up. Our band members have been working toward this event since July 11. This is a tribute to the students and their parents.”

Dr. Ramos hopes to use this event as a springboard for the growth of the Eagle Pride Marching Band. He said that having students compete at the national level has pushed the group out of their comfort zone, but they know that growth comes when they work to the edges of their abilities.
