Canutillo Night gave the community a chance to enjoy the summer break and recognize the achievements of students and staff during the 2021-22 school year.

“It was amazing to see so many members of the Canutillo family at the ballpark wearing their orange-and-blue gear and letting the rest of El Paso know why Canutillo ISD is the best small school district in Texas,” Superintendent Dr. Pedro Galaviz said. “This was a great way to kick off the summer and for us to start getting ready for an even better 2022-23 school year.”

The game featured a ceremonial first pitch by Galaviz and a special on-field recognition of Reyes Elementary School teacher Alma Ramos, the Canutillo ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year.

Chico, the Chihuahua’s mascot, also helped students and staff celebrate the announcement at the game of Canutillo’s recent designation as the Best Small School District in Texas by the H-E-B Education Foundation.
