The Griffin Class of 2026 pledged a commitment to the high standards and expectations that come with being a student at Northwest Early College High School during the school’s Freshman Signing Ceremony on Wednesday, Aug. 31.

It has become a tradition at Northwest to have freshmen make a full commitment to the rigor and vision of the school. The document is a vow to do their best work over the course of the next four years to meet the mission and vision of NWECHS.

“We’re excited to welcome our new cohort of students and to have them make the commitment to excellence that comes with being a Northwest Griffin,” said Principal Frank Clark. “I know that as we continue to grow, we will reinforce the work that has made this school one of the best high schools in the country.”

The NWECHS Letter of Commitment states that all freshmen accept the responsibility to:

  • Notice the depth of reflection and rigor in all assignments.
  • Weigh their personality and use it to help them learn in all their courses.
  • Ensure distinguished achievement plan diploma and an Associate of Arts degree.
  • Create a productive work ethic that can be transferred after high school.
  • Highlight the problem and find solutions in order to become an activist.
  • Support scholarship, leadership, character and community.
