In this inaugural position, Schenk will provide district-wide leadership and management of elementary curriculum and the instructional programs for all student populations including at-risk, dyslexic and students with or without disabilities eligible for services. She will ensure that educational services are designed equitably amongst all student populations using scientifically based research on instructional strategies, techniques and procedures.

“I am humbled and excited to serve our learning community in the new role as the Elementary Curriculum Coordinator,” Schenk said.

Schenk holds a Master’s of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in technology from The University of Texas at El Paso with certifications in elementary early childhood and elementary self-contained grades PK - 6. She has over 24 years of experience delivering instruction for primary and secondary grade levels as well as extensive experience in the dual language, gifted and talented education and facilitating teacher training programs.

Throughout her career, Schenk has been named 2009 Region 19 Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented Teacher of the Year, 2007 Bilingual Education Emphasizing and Mastering Standards Teacher of the Year and 2007 Deanna Davenport Elementary Teacher of the Year.

Additionally, the long-standing educator has presented at the National Association for Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented, National Association of Bilingual Education, Texas Association of Bilingual Education, Texas Computer Education Association and Bilingual Education Emphasizing and Mastering Standards.
