This is the image for the news article titled Northwest Early College High School Partnership Provides Accelerated Progress Towards NursingThis upcoming school year, the opportunity for Northwest Early College High School (NWECHS) students to accelerate their progress towards entering the high-demand nursing profession is coming to their campus through a partnership with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso).

The TTUHSC Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program will allow NWECHS students the unique opportunity to complete the prerequisites necessary to enter the BSN nursing program at TTUHSC El Paso.

Students enrolled in the program can take up to 60 college credit hours to earn the equivalent of an associate’s degree through El Paso Community College. Upon successful completion, and thanks to the partnership with TTUHSC El Paso, five spots will be reserved for NWECHS students to have conditional acceptance into the accelerated nursing program at the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing, where they can earn their BSN degree in as little as 16 months.

“This is a great opportunity for our students who are interested in following the pathway to become registered nurses to gain a head start towards their education at no cost to them,” said NWECHS Principal Jesica Arellano. “There is a great need for more nurses to serve nationally and in our own community. This program will allow our students to fast track their careers to help meet the demand of adding additional nurses to the healthcare field.”

NWECHS has a few more available spots in the program for freshmen and sophomores. For more information, call 915-877-1701 or email Dean of Students Frank Clark at [email protected].
