The incoming juniors will receive the jackets in recognition of the work they put in their first two years of high school, earning each a spot in the top ten percent of their class. The letterman jackets also serve as an incentive to keep the momentum going through their careers as upperclassmen.

“It is important to reward our top performing students and let them know that their hard work and dedication is not going unnoticed,” said NWECHS Principal Jesica Arellano. “We want them to wear their letterman jackets as inspiration to lowerclassmen and motivation to themselves to keep up their great work.”

Tuesday, the group met at the NWECHS campus to get fitted for the letterman jackets they will receive in the coming school year. This was an exciting occasion for Haylie Kessler Welch who was surprised to learn she would be receiving the gift on behalf of her school.

“I was completely surprised to find out I was going to be getting a jacket,” Welch said. “I feel this is a great way for our school to show their appreciation for us working so hard these past years. Sometimes it was difficult but we kept working hard and this is a great payoff for us.”
