Northwest Early College High School this week received an “A” grade from Niche, making it the highest rated high school in the El Paso region.

“Our students work very hard to excel academically and always give their best effort,” said NWECHS Principal Frank Clark. “It is always great for them to receive the recognition they deserve. We’re so proud of our students and staff for earning this national distinction and will continue to provide our students with the best learning experiences.”

Now in its ninth year, the Niche rankings include updated data for 92,743 public schools, 30,112 private schools, and 11,820 school districts nationwide. Rankings are based on rigorous analysis of academic and student life data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education, user input, and other quantitative data to evaluate teachers, resources and facilities, extracurricular activity opportunities and more.

Niche’s rankings were created to provide families with valuable information — both quantitative and qualitative — on schools in their area or in a neighborhood they’re not familiar with yet. As in previous years, the Best Schools rankings include categories for boarding, charter and magnet schools as well as schools for STEM and the arts among others.

Northwest Early College this year received an A rating from the Texas Education Agency and is also the home of a U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon Award – the highest recognition given by the federal government to any school.

“NWECHS is proof positive that Canutillo ISD is a leader in innovative instruction not just in El Paso, but in the entire state,” said CISD Superintendent Dr. Pedro Galaviz. “The work the students and staff have done at Northwest is to be commended.”
