The Hoop Dreams of 11 basketball teams made up of El Paso Electric employees will help send Canutillo ISD graduates to college.
The teams this past weekend participated in the Summer Slam 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament at Canutillo High School.
The tournament raised $1,500 with EP Electric matching for a total of $3,000 going to the Canutillo Alumni Foundation for Education, which funds scholarships for CISD graduates each year.
The tournament was organized by CISD Trustee Tristan Hernandez, who is a governmental relations intern at El Paso Electric, and fellow CHS alum and EPE employee Christian Corral.
“This is a great opportunity for El Paso Electric and Canutillo ISD to partner up and do something great for our community,” Hernandez said. “The basketball tournament was a fun way for all of us to stay active and hopefully transform the lives of future Canutillo High and Northwest Early College graduates.”
Hernandez and Corral teamed up to form EP Dream Team, the eventual winner of the tournament.
