This is the image for the news article titled CISD Teachers & Staff Focus on Teaching & LearningToday, Canutillo ISD teachers and staff got down to the nitty gritty of teaching and learning during Day 2 of the Growth, Resilience, Innovation and Tenacity professional development conference, also known as GRIT.

Elementary and secondary teachers and staff participated in content-specific training and development aimed at building the strategies and skills that challenge students to move beyond memorization to powerful applications by creating opportunities for them to make deeper connections for transfer of knowledge.

“It is important for our teachers and instructional staff to stay on top of the most effective practices and implementation of concepts to keep learning in Canutillo innovative and competitive,” said Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction Jesica Arellano. “We want to give our students at every grade level the best opportunities to learn and grow academically as well as socially and emotionally. It’s this approach that has made Canutillo ISD the Best Small School District in Texas.”

The GRIT professional development conference continues tomorrow, Wednesday, July 27 with the 2nd annual Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Bowl where teachers and staff receive training on practical tools and skills focused on fostering the physical, emotional, and relational health of students.
