Canutillo FFA earns top honors at El Paso County Fair

Canutillo High School FFA students brought home a strong collection of awards from this year’s El Paso County Fair, earning championships and top finishes across livestock, consumer science, photography, mechanics and public speaking competitions.
The highlight of the competition came from Reed Gil, who earned Grand Champion Beef Heifer, one of the fair’s top livestock honors. Gil also earned Reserve Grand Champion in public speaking and placed second in ag mechanics.
Other Canutillo students also earned championship honors. Emery Gil took first place in Market Steer. Angel Favela earned first place in Consumer Science Quick Bread and Consumer Science Cookies. Valentine Chavez took first place in Consumer Science Pie, while Emma Coronado earned first place in Consumer Science Textiles.
Coronado also earned second, third and fourth place finishes in Consumer Science Photography.
Canutillo students continued to post strong finishes in the livestock competitions. Dallas Beltran placed third in Market Lamb, followed by Leilani Gonzalez in fourth. Marcus Almeida placed sixth in Market Swine, while Zara Estrada and Luis Terrazas placed seventh and eighth, respectively, in Market Rabbit.
The results reflect the hard work, preparation and wide range of skills developed through the Canutillo FFA program.
Congratulations to all of our FFA students for representing Canutillo High School with pride at the El Paso County Fair!
