Canutillo ISD’s Dr. Jesica Arellano honored for excellence in educational leadership

Canutillo ISD Executive Director of Elementary Education Dr. Jesica Arellano was recognized Thursday for her commitment to strengthening teaching and learning when she received the 2026 Richard Castro Excellence in Education Leadership Award during the Education Matters Summit.
The award recognizes educational leaders whose vision, dedication and leadership have made a meaningful impact on students and schools. For Dr. Arellano, that work has centered on ensuring every Canutillo ISD student has access to high-quality instruction and the foundation needed to succeed, particularly in the critical areas of literacy and mathematics.
Through her leadership of elementary education, Dr. Arellano has worked alongside campus administrators and teachers to strengthen classroom instruction, support educators and create opportunities for students to grow academically.
“This recognition is truly a reflection of the incredible work happening in our classrooms every day,” Dr. Arellano said. “Our teachers and campus leaders are deeply committed to giving every child the strong foundation they deserve, especially in literacy and mathematics. I am incredibly proud to work alongside educators who believe in our students, challenge them to grow and never stop looking for ways to help them succeed.”
The Richard Castro Excellence in Education Leadership Award recognizes that commitment and the impact of leadership that keeps students at the center of every decision.
Canutillo ISD congratulates Dr. Arellano on this distinguished honor and thanks her for her continued dedication to the students, educators and families of the Canutillo community.
