Two Canutillo High Musicians Earn Spots in TMEA All-Region Band

Two Canutillo High Musicians Earn Spots in TMEA All-Region Band

Two Canutillo High School musicians have earned top regional honors after being selected to the 2025 Texas Music Educators Association Region 22 All-Region Band, marking another proud achievement for the Canutillo ISD fine arts program.

Evelyn Blair and Samuel Wolfley, both standout performers in the Canutillo High School Band, secured their spots following highly competitive auditions involving students from across the El Paso region. Blair, who is currently ranked as the top flute player in the District 5A classification, earned third chair in the prestigious Region Honor Band. Wolfley, also ranked first in District 5A on bassoon, secured second chair in the same group.

Their performances earned them the opportunity to represent both Canutillo High School and the entire region at the upcoming TMEA Area Auditions in January. The next round will determine which students advance to the All-State Band, one of the highest honors a Texas high school musician can achieve.

“They are exceptional musicians who work incredibly hard,” said CISD Fine Arts Administrator Andres Rodriguez. “Their selection is a reflection not only of their talent, but of their commitment to constant improvement. We are proud to have them represent Canutillo at the area level.”

The All-Region process is known for its rigorous judging and steep competition, particularly in 5A divisions. Students prepare months in advance, perfecting challenging etudes and demonstrating high-level musical skill.

Canutillo ISD continues to strengthen its fine arts programs, providing expanded opportunities for students to excel in music, visual arts, theater and dance. Blair and Wolfley’s achievements highlight the growing success and visibility of the district’s student musicians.

Both students now turn their focus to the Area Auditions, where a strong performance could send them to the state stage.

Good luck, Eagles.
