Canutillo High School Math Team delivers top results at city competition

The Canutillo High School Math Team’s exceptional skills added up to a great sum of success at a citywide math competition this weekend.

Competing against schools from across the city at Jefferson High School, the team achieved remarkable success, capturing first place in the team category for calculator applications.

“The Canutillo Math Team’s achievements reflect their hard work, dedication and passion for mathematics,” said Principal Candice Marrufo. “This victory underscores the team’s reputation as one of the state’s top academic competitors.”

Individually, team members also earned top honors. Matthew Medina, a senior, led the team with an outstanding performance, winning first place in both Mathematics and Calculator Applications and securing second place in Number Sense.

Medina’s results were complemented by the strong efforts of other team members. Senior Alicia Romero, along with juniors Raquel Garcia and Cytlaly Jimenez, each earned fourth place in Calculator Applications, contributing to the team’s overall win.

“I am extremely proud of the team’s efforts,” said team sponsor Rudy Medina. “They put forth a great effort in preparing for the competition and their hard work paid off with a stellar performance.”
