Canutillo NJROTC cadets sharpen leadership skills at 2025 Leadership Academy

In a powerful display of discipline, determination and school pride, cadets from Canutillo High School’s Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps stepped up to the challenge at the 2025 Leadership Academy held earlier this month.
The event brought together the region’s top young leaders for four days of intense training designed to shape the next generation of role models in and out of uniform.
The four-day academy brought together NJROTC cadets from across the region for intensive leadership training aimed at enhancing discipline, teamwork and personal growth. Canutillo’s Eagle cadets trained alongside their peers in a variety of exercises, including drill and ceremony, physical fitness, leadership development and team-building activities.
“This experience was not just about learning how to lead others — it was about learning how to lead ourselves,” said Cadet Commander Faith Delgado. “We pushed our limits, formed bonds with cadets from other schools and gained a greater sense of responsibility and confidence.”
Throughout the program, cadets were evaluated on their discipline, initiative, teamwork and ability to perform under pressure. Instructors from each NJROTC unit coordinated exercises designed to shape future leaders both in and out of uniform.
The collaboration between Canutillo, Americas, San Elizario and Socorro High Schools created a sense of unity among the cadets. The shared experience gave students the chance to work with peers from other schools and gain insight into different leadership styles.
Canutillo NJROTC’s participation underscores the school’s dedication to leadership development, academic achievement and civic engagement. The cadets returned with valuable skills and a renewed sense of purpose as they prepare for roles within their unit and the community.
Congratulations to the cadets who completed the 2025 Leadership Academy and represented Canutillo High School with pride and determination.
