Community asked to give input on preliminary plans for Canutillo Bond projects
Participants heard from each of the architects that were hired to design the $379-million in construction projects and updates at each of the District's 10 campuses.
Architects answered questions, provided feedback and heard input from students, teachers, parents and neighbors interested in impacting the final design of the projects.
The projects include the reconstruction of Alderete and Canutillo middle schools and Davenport Elementary, as well as the brick-and-mortar construction of Northwest Early College High School. All other six campuses will also receive millions of dollars in fixes, upgrades and investments that include HVAC replacements, new roofs and safety and security infrastructure.
"The goal of this update is to engage the community and give them an opportunity to have a say in the way these schools will serve their children and the neighborhoods they live in," said Superintendent Dr. Pedro Galaviz. "We want to extend this opportunity to those who couldn't join us but can still view the drawings and provide feedback through our website."
The link will be open through Jan. 20 so that the information can be shared with architects as they begin their final designs.
