UTEP awards Northwest Early College High School students scholarships
Three Northwest Early College High School seniors will get a hefty check to help them pursue their bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas at El Paso next fall.
The students on Thursday received a surprise visit from the UTEP Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships to let them know they had received either the UTEP Excellence Scholarship and, in one case, the prestigious UTEP Presidential Scholarship.
Seniors Fatima Garcia Merez and Melina Holguin earned the Excellence Scholarship. Senior Brandon Enciso earned the Presidential Scholarship – a full ride scholarship to UTEP.
Rolph Zehntner, UTEP Assistant Vice President of Financial Aid and Scholarships, said Brandon is one of four people in the city who received the Presidential Scholarship.
“Northwest Early College is home to some of the best students in the region,” Principal Frank Calrk said. “This fact is reflected in the number of high-rigor scholarships like the UTEP Excellence and UTEP Presidential our students earned. We are very proud of the work they do and the way they represent Northwest and Canutillo ISD.”
Congratulations to all the UTEP scholarship recipients.
