Lilia Maldonado

Lilia Maldonado, Vice President

Lilia “Lily” P. Maldonado was elected to the Canutillo ISD Board of Trustees in November 2024 to serve a four-year term. A proud alumna of Canutillo High School, she graduated with the Class of 1978. Maldonado is a seasoned educator who taught in Canutillo ISD for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2023. She has since come out of retirement and currently teaches at an elementary school in the El Paso Independent School District. She has a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Elementary Education from the University of Texas at El Paso.

Maldonado has a long-standing record of advocacy and community involvement within Canutillo and the school district. She has served on the Canutillo Bond Advisory Committee, the CISD Task Force, the District Advisory Council, and various other campus and district committees. In addition, she represents Precinct 4 on the El Paso County Bond Advisory Committee and is a lifetime member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Canutillo.

Born and raised in Canutillo, Maldonado has lived in the community her entire life. Her parents both worked for the Canutillo school district, and she and her husband—also a Canutillo High graduate—have called the area home for more than 40 years. Together, they raised three daughters who all attended Canutillo ISD schools. Today, their four grandchildren are continuing the tradition as current Canutillo students.

Term: Nov. 2024-Nov. 2028
