Your voice matters in shaping the future of our educational institutions. The Canutillo Independent School District is at a critical juncture, and we need your valuable input to navigate the way forward.

The state of our school buildings is a pressing concern that requires our collective attention. Our campuses are, on average, 25 years old, with some structures nearing the 50-year mark. These facilities served admirably, but now we find ourselves in a challenging situation. Our students are being asked to perform 21st-century duties in facilities that are predominantly relics of the 20th century. We cannot afford to let our infrastructure hinder the educational opportunities and experiences of our future leaders.

Following the setbacks of the past two bond elections, the District has regrouped and stands resolute in setting a new trajectory to address the needs of our school buildings. To achieve this, we need your active participation. Your thoughts, opinions, and concerns are instrumental in charting a path forward that aligns with the aspirations of our community and the educational needs of our students.

We are inviting students, parents, community members, and alumni to participate in the Canutillo Facilities Priorities survey. This survey comprises an open-ended question aimed at gathering comprehensive information about what our community perceives as the most critical issues affecting our school buildings. Your insights will provide the necessary guidance for the Board of Trustees and the Administration to understand the priorities and concerns of our community accurately.

The Board of Trustees is committed to delving into discussions with the Administration to develop a strategic plan addressing critical areas such as deferred maintenance, growth, and safety and security within our school facilities. However, this plan cannot be effective without your invaluable contributions.

Your participation in this survey is crucial in ensuring that our schools remain safe, conducive to learning, and equipped to nurture the potential of our students. Together, let's create an environment that empowers our learners and supports their success.

I urge each and every one of you to take a few moments to share your thoughts. Your input will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our educational landscape. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that our students have access to the best possible learning environments.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the Canutillo Independent School District.

¡Un fuerte abrazo!

Patricia Mendoza
President
Canutillo Independent School District Board of Trustees
