The Canutillo Independent School District (CISD) received a perfect score of 100 - Superior Achievement - for the 2020-21 School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) ratings based upon an analysis of financial data for fiscal year 2020.
The School FIRST system is the state’s school financial accountability rating system used to ensure Texas public schools are held accountable for the quality of their financial administration practices and encourages optimal management and allocation of financial resources toward direct instructional purposes.
“We are very pleased to have received a perfect School FIRST rating,” said Martha Piekarski, Chief Business Officer at CISD. “This reflects the District’s commitment to value our taxpayers’ dollars and maintain a high level of integrity and accountability with our financial management and reporting.”
CISD was rated based on the scores received from 20 separate performance indicators. Each performance indicator was designed to assess the quality of the financial management of the district’s resources. The system assigns four possible financial accountability ratings to Texas school districts. CISD’s perfect score under the state’s highest rating demonstrates the district's commitment to quality financial management and accurate reporting.
