This is the image for the news article titled New District Administrators Join the Canutillo ISD TeamThe Canutillo ISD today announced the appointment of two new administrators who will help the District continue to provide high-level services to the students, employees and community of Canutillo.

Gustavo RevelesGustavo Reveles is the District’s new Director of Communications and Marketing, leading the Public Information Office. Raquel Lucero is the new Internal Auditor.

Reveles returns to Canutillo after having served as the Director of Community Engagement for the El Paso Independent School District since 2014. He previously served Canutillo as the Public Information Officer from 2010 to 2014.

A veteran former journalist who worked as a senior reporter for the El Paso Times and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram before shifting careers to school public relations, Reveles has vast experience in media and governmental relations, marketing initiatives, campaigns and branding.

“We are pleased to welcome back a member of our Canutillo family. Gustavo has a proven track-record of commitment to our District, students, and community,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Pedro Galaviz. “His experience in public education, knowledge of our District, positive relationships within our community, and enthusiasm for Canutillo ISD, all make him the right fit to serve in this capacity.”

In Canutillo ISD, Reveles will lead all marketing and communications strategies and initiatives and build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external District stakeholders.

“Canutillo feels like home to me and I am excited to help this amazing community meet its academic and operational goals,” Reveles said. “Canutillo ISD is the Best Small School District in Texas, and it will be my pleasure to tell the stories of the students and teachers who make that possible.”

Raquel Lucero Lucero’s role as the Canutillo ISD Internal Auditor will provide District administration and the Board of Trustees with independent and objective financial consultation based on review and analysis of the financial, electronic, and operating controls throughout the District.

“We are very excited to welcome Raquel Lucero as our new internal auditor. We take pride in our efforts to be responsible stewards of our constituents' money and the wealth of experience Raquel brings to her new role will be essential to ensure we maintain our high standards of financial management, integrity, and responsibility,” Dr. Galaviz said.

The Canutillo High School alumna brings over 15 years of experience in the audit and compliance fields in both the public and private sector, including nine years in the Office of the Inspector General. She previously served as the internal review chief with the U.S. Army Garrison Fort Bliss in the Internal Review and Audit Compliance Office where she quickly moved up the ranks.

Lucero was awarded the Department of the Army Achievement Medal for Civilian Service and the Civilian Service Commendation Medal among other various performance based awards in recognition of outstanding performance ratings.

“Throughout my 15 year audit career, I have worked in many cities and served in different capacities. I reached a point where I wanted to bring my knowledge and experience back to the community where it all started,” Lucero said. “As a Canutillo graduate, I am excited to join CISD and become part of the fabric of the local community.”
